New WyreStorm 4K UHD Extenders with HDR Support

Extending 4K HDMI and Control u to 70m

Introduction In the Box

Great things come in 4s - a least when you're talking about WyreStorm HDMI Extenders. We are excited to announce four new extender solutions to our comprehensive line of HDBaseT signal distribution products.

Why are we updating our extender line?
Today's AV technology is changing rapidly - almost daily with advances in video content production related to 4K UHD and HDR. Display manufacturers are also trying to keep up as the demand for this content requires higher contrast ratios, higher resolutions and a wider color spectrum. As the highway builder between the sources and displays, WyreStorm will continue to lead the way with newer, more advanced roads.

Our four new extenders are each designed to provide optimum price and performance levels for a given application. Starting with the EX-35-H2 for shorter distances, up to the EX-70-H2X-ARC with an extensive feature-set, including Audio Return Channel and audio breakout.

All four of the new extenders are capable of the following:

  • 4K UHD transmission - Supporting 4K UHD up to 35m & 70m - depending on product.
  • HDR - HDR Compatible 2160p @24Hz, 4:2:0 10-bit
  • HDCP 2.2 - Latest encryption technology ensuring compatibility with all HDCP 2.2 protected content
  • Digital Audio - Passes digital audio up to Dolby Atmos or DTS:X
  • IR and Serial Control - 2-Way IR and RS-232 pass-through
  • Revised Chipset - Allows for reliable transmission of previously problematic UltraHD sources

As the chart below illustrates, each extender has additional features and capabilities. However, all four are ready for today's 4K UHD HDR content.

At WyreStorm, we service a wide range of customers. Our new H2 series extenders are designed to be the most reliable point-to-point HDMI extenders on the market, ideal for both residential and commercial environments.

Applications

The applications above shows an example of the EX-70-H2X-ARC. (Click the image for a larger picture). A 4K Blu-ray player is connected to the extender (transmitter) via an HDMI cable. Cat6a cable is then used to connect the transmitter to the receiver and then an HDMI cable connects the receiver to the 4K display. The transmitter is also connected to a router, which allows the extender to get the LAN (internet) signal to the display. And if that is not enough, audio from the display can be sent back to the receiver via ARC and then out to an AV receiver. Note that both the ARC signal and the HDBaseT signal are simultaneous!
